This was a fun bathroom renovation for us. I didn't have a set idea of the style before starting it, but what I had decided on were the tile choices. I visited Tiletoria in Paarden Island (lovely tile showroom with a coffee shop and very helpful staff) there I found these beautiful textured Ivory porcelain tiles for the feature wall of this bathroom. We decided to lay them in a herringbone pattern as the rest of our parquet floors in the lounge and bedrooms were also relayed in a herringbone pattern. This way we could tie in the guest bedroom with the guest bathroom.

We installed a new long black aluminium window to let as much light into this space as it was very dark when we bought the house. I thought against the black some white tiles that filled that wall would make the black pop nicely and create a contrast. To keep with the rest of the house we decided to go with brushed brass fittings (also when I did some research the most affordable and nicest looking were from Trendy Taps off of Takealot. We ordered all our tap-ware and fittings from them off that platform.

We went for a light grey screed throughout the house, only tiling the shower floor with some pebbled stone light grey mosaic tiles and grout (to match the grey screed). Our shower screen was 1m x 2m high with a 45 degree chrome bar (whoever said you can't mix gold and silver together!) that we purchased from Showerline.

Our vanity cabinet wood was ordered from Timber city and is called Brookhill (we selected this for our kitchen island as well as all the other wood built ins for the future reno). Our Chafford brushed brass handles came from Gelmar; for the vanity drawer and the new exterior barn door. The vanity counter top is an Artic White 20mm from Sangengalo and finally we replaced the old lights with these divine coastal hanging pendants from 8 Degrees South; and found some gold light fittings from Builders to tie them in with the tap-ware and the warm cretestone walls. Overall this bathroom turned out to have a relaxed, fun, coastal feel and worked nicely with our original plan to create a Mediterranean inspired home around the Olive Tree.
